2520 MV with F300

I just purchased a new to me 2013 F300 for my 99' 2520 MV transom mount. Just wondering if any one has any input on prop size for this motor and hull. I imagine the prop I'm using for the F225 is too small.

Just wanted to update anyone interested. I think I have found the right proper for my set up. See the data below

Yamaha F300
Prop 3x 15.75x 15
For 2/3 fuel and two guys

3500 RPM 24mph 2.4mpg
3800 RPM 28mph 2.6mpg
4000 RPM 31mph 2.5mpg
WOT 5800 RPM 41mph 1.6 mpg

My old prop was a 3x 14.25 x 17
and my cruise RPMs =5000RPM with 29mph and 1.85mpg
WTO= 6100RPM at 42mph and 1.5mpg

Wondering if your numbers are still holding or if you have any updates? Also, is your hull the 16 degree deadrise? Did you have the old smaller prop on the f300 and same hull?

I just re-powered with an F300 on my 12 degree 25' CC and working on getting it propped correctly now. Your numbers look much better than mine so far. What brand and model prop are you running?

That does appear to match what I get with my F300 on the 14 degree 2520. Although I find I am rarely light enough to maximize the fuel economy. Seems like between the cabin materials, camping equipment, shrimp pots, crab pots, and 4-6 people on board I am always running heaving. It is really nice to have the power of the 300 and its great that even with a fully loaded boat I can still hit 40 mph if I had to it just more fuel to get there.

How are your numbers with the load you describe. I regularly run with gear plus 4-6 people.

Seems a lot of guys are doing well with the 15 3/4"x 15"
Anyone running a powertech prop or just the Yamaha SDS?

Yesterday's run in flat calm water and light air with a total of 3 people on and some gear/ice produced decent numbers but not great.

Calm sea, light air, tabs up.
Max 5800-5900rpm 35knots
4200rpm 24.9knots 2.26nm/gal
4000rpm 24.0knots 2.28nm/gal
3900rpm 22.5knots 2.32nm/gal
3800rpm 21.9knots 2.39nm/gal
3700rpm 20.0knots 2.37nm/gal


Slight chop, 10knot headwind, tabs down about 2"
4300rpm 24.7knots 2.01nm/gal
4600rpm 26.7knots 1.75nm/gal

your numbers seem to be more in line with what I am finding when running the boat in normal operations and sea states. I ran the boat light the other day and was really surprised by how much difference the weight makes in the economy. I tend to run a little harder in the 4400 to 4600 range, I like to run about 30-32 mph. I believe I'm running an Yamaha SDS prop.

I had a good talk with powertech today and they're going to help me try and get this fine tuned. I can't get my hands on a Yamaha SDS 15 3/4"x15p to try anytime soon.

That must have been a good day/tide/wind, but then again I almost never run that light these days. I think with normal operations I'm closer to 4400-4600 to do 31 mph at around 2.2-2.3 gph.
Yes I do most of my numbers in statue miles. I know fully loaded I'm closer to 1.9mpg doing 29mph at 4600rpm. I don't want to mislead anyone or have anyone chasing unobtainable numbers. Next time I'm out I'll do an update on my performance. The longer I have my boat the worst shape my bottom paint is.

I've been running a Yamaha SDS SS2 15 3/4" x 15" for the past few weeks/month. I don't have the exact breakdown like I listed before but feel I'm seeing better overall performance. I lost 100rpm top end but I think the tradeoff is good. Lots of variability depending on sea state and load but can regularly get at least 2nm/g and with the right conditions up to 2.4-2.5nm/g. I have better hole shot and better hold in seas and cornering. I'm also able to hold a plane as low as 3500rpm which gives me a high teens speed in knots. So i'm sticking with this for now. May give the Powertech 4 blade a run at some point but too busy now to be messing with props.

Just repowered my 2510MV with a new F300 and hoping to revive this thread. What I didnt see above is what hole mount is everyone running their motors? Is everyone still happy with their prop/performance?

I have a 1999 2520 DV with bracket. Came with 4blade SS prop and would max RPM at 3800. Installed Suzuki 3blade SS 3x16x18.5 got 4800 rpm at 29knots. Any suggestions on what to try next. Hole shot is fine just not getting expected top end.

Setup boat as you normally boat. Get on plane and check the anti vent plate is above the water. Video will help. This will check if motor is too high or low. Adjust if needed. Throttle cables are adjusted correctly? Ask Ken at PropGods about props

Army, unless I missed it you should post what prop produced the 3800 WOT. I have 2 new 4 blade props available: OFS4 17 pitch, and a Rebel 4 blade 15 pitch. Let me know if you're interested, I'd sell either for $350 plus shipping. The 15 pitch gave me a wot of 5800, and the 17 pitch 5100, but I'm running an 300 Etec. I have a heavy 2520xl MV.
