Just introduced myself this week and have been having a great time on this great website.

About a month ago I had a chance to purchase a 2005 2520 SL with a 250 Yamaha 4 stroke with my partner. The deal was just too good to pass on. I had been wanting a bit larger boat with a cabin. We previously owned a Parker 23' CC.

I talked to the guy on Thursday night and bought the boat Friday afternoon. The engine had only 76 hours on it, and most of that was in fresh water. It included many extras including a 55 gallon bait tank, Raymarine E-80 with radar. double rocket launcher bar, lights, electric anchor winch and others. I might have liked a full transomed boat but this was a deal I just had to jump on. My half of the total out the door was just at $30,000.00. I just love the Parker line of boats.

So what did I really get?

I have been reading posts on the different hulls....Modified Vee, Deep Vee, 16 degrees deadrise.............

What does the SL stand for? Is that refering to the cabin size?

And the deadrise. We fish offshore in Southern California and Northern Mexico. A fair amount of the time we have very decent weather. It is not like fishing in Northern California. But some days we do get some swell and wind, maybe 15-18 knots. However, I just do not go out fishing if poor weather is predicted.

I guess the question is how will this hull work out for us. We did take it out once and got in 3-4 foot with 15 knots on it and it seemed to be just fine. I felt like I had a lot of weight and hull below me, a lot more than the 23'CC. We fished the 23' CC up to 55 miles in some weather, and besides getting wet, it seemed to handle the weather just fine. I am expecting more out of the 25......but just what should I expect out of this hull.

Thanks for your input.

What you have is a great boat! You have 16 degree deadrise, so unless the chop sets are quick and large you shouldn't bang that much. Realize that you are sitting down in the hull as opposed to your CC, so you will feel the power of the water more. 150 gallons of fuel i believe and 4500-5000lbs. It is a lot of boat for its size. I have a 2520 XLD which ups the deadrise to 21, a bit more comfortable in crappy to bad weather. I wouldn't worry about the full transom since you are self bailing and sealed. good electronics package!!

Enjoy

There's not a ton of info on the Parker website, but here is your model, http://parkerboats.net/pages/boat_detail.jsp?boatid=19

As Scoundrel said, yours is a modified vee hull.

The website lists options too on another page, though you listed some good ones.

The sport cabin has models with different interiors (seating), single or double outboard, hull angle, and you already mentioned the transom.

I have your same model: 2005 2520SL with Yamaha F250.

modified v = 14 degrees
deep v = 21 degrees
2520 XL = 16 degrees
2520 SL = 16 degrees.

XL is closed transom / full bracket.
SL os open transom, no bracket, and slightly smaller/narrower pilot house.

Thanks for the replies.

Spent some time trying to figure out the SL thing......

Open Transom.......who would have figured.

When I bought my Parker, I sent an e-mail to Robin Parker with the serial number. She sent back the specs on my boat along with the factory installed options. She was very quick in responding to my inquiry. Congratulations on the Parker :D
