2820 Milage

I'm showing 1.7 - 1.8 mpg out of my 2820 with yamaha 250s, a moderate load and in calm water. I'm wondering if others are showing the same thing or if my calibration is off. Seems like it is a little overly optimistic.

It is probably reading the water speed from the engine pitot tube which is known to not be the most accurate. I have a 6YC and rely more on the fuel used and gallons per hour. That being said my 2520XLD with twin Yamaha 200s shows 1.9-2.1 mpg.

2016 2801 f300s (permatrims x 2) light to moderate load best is 2.0 mpg 3600 rpm 35 mph.

2830 with twin 225's yielded me 1.3-1.4 mpg. So, your fuel burn seems reasonable. They are just big, heavy hulls that require a lot of power to keep them moving. The lack of reasonable fuel economy was the nidus for me to sell my 2830. It is what it is.

While I believe those numbers are not far off.....Have you experimented with engine height change? Have you checked adjusted engine alignment between the two?
And lastly would be a prop change after those have been addressed.

2017 2820. T300s with stock props. Moderate load, full fuel, 2 adults, clean bottom paint.
2.0mpg and 30 mph at 3400rpm per speedometer and GPS many, many times

Wow, those are very impressive MPG#s. I put almost 2000 hours on a single Yamaha F225 and now have 450+ hours on a 2019 Suzuki DF300APXX pushing around the same Parker 2520 Mod V. The only time I ever see 2.0 MPG is in absolutely calm seas with less the half a tank of fuel, and even then that 2.0 is brief, typically more like 1.7.

The reported/observed mpg in "calm water/moderate load" is typically 20% better than real world mpg (ie carrying ice, 4 fat fishing dudes, a bunch of gear and 1-3ft seas)

For example, my Parker 23 DVCC/Yamaha F300 would observe 3.0 to 3.3 mpg in calm water/moderate load. But in real world fishing conditions, fuel economy was 2.5-2.6mpg.

On my 26 Southport/F225(x2), I'll observe 1.9-2.1 mpg in calm water but 1.7mpg in real world conditions

I can’t speak to the “4 fat guys”, but my “2 people total weight” was usually 440lbs, ~1500 lbs of fuel, 15 rods and equipment, lead ballast in live well, bottom paint, etc.. I recall the motors were up 1 hole. As stated here many times, that 2017 2820 with T300 got much better full economy than the new 2016 2520 single 300 it replaced after 8 months........

Wow, something must be wrong on my end. I have a 2005 2820 with twin Yamaha 4 strokes. I have never seen better than 1.2mpg, and have often seen .8mpg in rough water and loaded down.
