Just purchased back up bilge pump. Any tips on install? Can I just wire in the aft bilge without running wires fwd?

Sure! I have one like that, an auto-mode pump that will run when the water-sensing switch turns it on, but it also has a manual switch mounted right there in the stern, in case needed, or to test.

For any wires in the bilge, I seal the ends of the marine butt connectors with 3M 5200 before covering the splice with the adhesive-lined heatshrink (sized > 3X the length of the butt connector itself).

I also try to keep the splice out of the bottom of the bilge, using some sort of a clip or zip tie. I run wiring across the underside of the deck, which should be the last place to get soaked in a bad situation.
