Reference this post ... here.

FWIW, Ed's Marine Super Store in VA is selling the Suzuki 250hp or 300hp for only $13K out the door.

That's a phenomenal price! Whereas I can use my existing 2-station controls, I only need the harness, smart guage, and prop ... plus rig & test. A local dealer has quoted me $2-3K to rig the new OB if I buy it from Ed's, and then they'll warranty it. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm ...

Anyway, take a look at the impressive numbers the Suzuki OBs are putting out there. That test hull is a 24' CC of 22-degree deadrise. That 3rd test below is a single OB on a 27' wide-beam heavy hull of 21-degree deadrise, and thus might be more representative of the results we'd get with the larger Parkers of deep-V models.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm again, ... I'd bet $$ my ol' mod-V 'big girl' would fly with a 300hp on her back, huh??

Beware that the rigging for two stations with the digital throttle and shift. It runs a lot more than the cable 250. It was a 3 grand upgrade from a Honda 225 or Zuke 250 for me to get the 300. I personally chose the Honda 225 over the zuke 250 but I probably would have chosen the zuke 300 if the cost was a little closer.(For the DTS alone as I am happy with the performance of my boat with 225- 25-29mph cruise and 39mph WOT)

Somewhere on this website somebody posted the results of mounting a Suzuki 300hp on a 2520DV hull. To be honest, I wasn't at all impressed with the #'s. I watched it closely as he tried to dial in more MPG, but it never got to where I thought it would.

I agree with you 100% ... I am cautious, that's why I posted here. I wasn't impressed either with the results (wonder if that motor is 'too deep' on it's mounting ... ???).

I do wonder what's up with their on-line test report, comparing the Suzi 250hp to their 300hp on the same hull. In that test, the 300hp gave 1 more MPG than the 250hp.

As Greg S. opined though, the $13K purchase cost might soon be negated by rigging e-controls (fly-by-wire) on dual stations ... less they let me do it myself.
