>>Someone on here spoke about putting 4" PVC in the locker to accept the shank and coil the rode around.

That's what I did when I kept my anchor in the locker and it worked fine. I just drilled a couple of holes in the bottom of the 4" pvc then zip tied it to the anchor rode eyebolt to keep it standing up straight. The rode will naturally coil around the pvc as you load it in the locker.

No sorry, this was a while ago and don't recall taking pics. I currently keep the anchors in the cockpit. The concept can't be much simpler and I remember it being a very easy install.

if 1/2 inch 3 strand nylon is taking up too much room in the anchor locker, you have the option of switching over to 1/2 inch 8 plait which takes up about 1/3 the space. here is 350ft of 8 plait and 35ft of chain in a 23 PH anchor locker.

I switched to 8 plait last season and it does indeed take up much less space in the chain locker.
Easier on the hands too (I retrieve my anchor manually). :)

Plait is definitely better on the hands and "falls into place" in a cleaner fashion.

Is it as strong?

I use a hi-tensil danforth on my 2120. You can use a smaller size that will fit your locker
and it will hold you in any condition. Mine stops you dead with a good chain. Measure locker and go on line to danforth they list all the measurements. Remember Hi-Tensil.

That would have been this post here, by our own Capt. John Deering.
