I just discovered a technique on another forum about sticking starboard to stuff.

Problem = nothing will stick to starboard not even 5200.

Solution = cutting dovetail groves in the back side of the mounting plate you are fastening, now fill all the groves with 5200 or marine tex or maybe even epoxy. This will cause the stuff to key into the groves on the starboard causing a mechanical bond. Now you can bond to that anywhere on the boat.

Neat idea!! :D

Like I said, I just discover it and never tried it. Anyone here have experience with this technique??

Here are a few threads I found.

Hello????

Anyone tried this? Comments? Thought?

Am I off the mark here? Maybe off my rocker. :?

Bryan:

I think it would work, but I am thru-bolt kind of guy since I get caught in some rough conditions and don't want any possibility of things coming loose. Never thought of doing it your way.......pretty cool.

I guess I don't have a problem with making holes since I'm capable of making the holes go away if I change my mind.

That's a great idea!!!!

If you do it, don't use anything stronger than 4200....especially epoxy. With 5200, you WILL cause damage if you ever need to remove it and with epoxy you will NEVER remove it.
