advice needed on to paint or not to pain that is the question the actuators and trim tabs? I have not painted the past to seasons and they really collect growth. If you think it's good to paint both items, what type paint?

I gotta say I've tried it all, seriously ... Primercon, Trilux 33, 3-part Pettitt system, wax, teflon, oi/grease, Pam non-stick spray ... and the only thing that reliably works is a stiff scrub brush to remove any growth.

Last season I painted the tabs with several coats of epoxy primer, then topped with the same ablative paint my bottom is painted with.
Only a couple of barnicles on the actuators, none on the planes, though.
The bottom paint did peel off the planes when the yard power washed her at winter haul-out, though the primer remained.

I'll give the planes a light sanding and paint them again for this season.
Like Dale, I've tried a number of solutions and this seems to be working.

Is it possible to be just lucky, my trim tabs were primed and ablative was added, I put the boat in last year on OCT 13th and then used it 57 hrs till december 17.......
Hauled it out ..NO GROWTH !!!, but when i power washed it did release in a few spots, but not where you would think it came loose on the top of tabs in three little spots...

so i 80 gritted it and rolled it on again ....ill try to snap a picture this week...

I'm goning to try that (epoxy barrier coat priming) this year, and then top-coating with std ablative on the running plane, maybe hard-coat epoxy Trinidad SR on the tops of the planes. Stay tuned ;)

thanks for the ideas, once again THE owners manual web site.
