Getting ready for spring cleaning and have a few small areas to repair. Anyone have a pint of gel coat that they would sell, or share as the case may be?

John

If you can't get any from Robin, then PM me and I can give you some of the factory stuff she sent me. It will go bad before I can possibly use it all. Unless of course the boat falls off the trailer or something.

How much you need? FWIW I mix it up 1-ounce at a time and that's enough to fix many spot reapirs. About 'how many' and 'how big' are they? I believe Parker only sells it in quarts and I have a can that has many miles through the mail or in other's vehicles on the roads throughout NE, from Maine to Maryland. Not too sure how much I have left though ...

I shoot a blast of propane gas [UNlit of course ;) ] into the top of the can before I close it. Then wrap the top of the can seal area with plastic wrap and store the can upside-down. I also do this with my fine varnishes, finishes, etc. and it makes them last forever ...

Thats a good tip. I've never heard of that one before. I've actually already had a small jar of gelcoat go bad on me. I'm lucky my dealer is nice enough to give me more for free, but I hate to bother them. I'll try that next time around.

that is a good tip dale,i like it very much i will try it as well when need be!!

I recently asked Robin about some gelcoat. She told me any dealer will ship it to you. I called nearest dealer (350 miles away) and received it in 3 days.

I asked Robin for some and she referred me to the dealer. (She must have liked Jim better). Anyway, dealer didn't have any, had to order it from the factory, cost of shipping hazmat material expensive, blah blah..

I am going to buy a quart anyway and I think it's going be about $120. I suppose I can put some in a container and send it to you.

I'll let you know when I get it and if you haven't found any by then, I'll send some to you.

Whoa, $120 a quart(?).......Fiberglass Coatings here in St. Pete sells it by the gallon for $60 last I checked. They color match and I have some sample cut outs from the dash and tackle box install you can borrow.

Dale: Thanks for the tip......i had no idea. I take it the gas is heavier than the air and displaces it.......cool.
