So its 4:15am and I am not fishing I am writing to you for some help. We went out last night and everything was fine. We had the gps, spot light, deck lights, and motor all working at the same time at intermittent times. This morning turn on the battery lower the motor and turn the key.........black out. Everything went down. Turned all electric stuff off and tried again, nothing. Its clicking but cant find the juice to turn over. Here is the main problem right now. I cant get the motor up and I am in a cove at low tide the motor will be pushing the boat up from the bottom. How do I get the motor up without a battery? Go suck it up and buy one and have the other on a trickle charge and now I have two? Any help is very welcome and the sooner the better. I have until about 830 before s hits the fan.

You'll need help, 1 or 2 others. You need to back off (turn counter clockwise) the trim/tilt MANUAL BYPASS screw that is usually down low on the port-side of the OB bracket where the OB attaches to the transom. There'll be a small 1/2" hole in the bracket on the SAME side that the trim pump is installed, where a screwdriver can be put in to back off the valve. The vavle has a c-clip to prevent it from coming fully out.

Then you'll need 1 or 2 with you to raise the motor, have a block of wood handy or get it up onto the mooring lock(s) as soon as you can. Then seat the valve to tighten and close. BE CAREFUL ... don't lose a bosypart trying this yourself ....

Once you are done with that, go by a two battery set-up with a 1, 2 both switch, cheap insurance.

uuhhh.....so I fixed it. There was a ton of build up on the positive battery ring that needed to be scraped off. Cheap and easy fix but a great learning experience
