Question for boat lift owners...I need a 14/5 control cable from switches to lift motors. Is SOOW 14/5 what is typically used? I do plan to enclose most of it in PVC. I am wondering if there is an extra-resistant version of 14/5 used on docks etc??

thanks

Bryce

SOOW is a hard usage cord and is rated sunlight resistant and water/ weather resistant and is suitable for use in wet locations. I have a lift and I am an master electrician and that would be my choice, I hope the attachments work, I took them out of the national electric code to show you SOOW is rated hard usage and note 15 applies to its weather/ water resistance. The W designates water resistant that needs to be in any cord that you choose for outdoor use. Hope this helps

Excellent, I appreciate the good info. Mind if I ask what to use from switches to J-box? I figured a 12/3 SOOW or 14/3 SOOW would be plenty, assuming I can buy that by the foot at HD?

A licensed electrician will be wiring the "final install" for 220 v, I am just trying to get it set up for temporary 110 (power off a generator) so the dock guys can plug in/replace the motors, cradle, cables.

Thanks again.
