So after I install my stereo and rod racks on the inside of the cabin this year, my next project needs to be a second steering station.

I'm thinking of going to a minimalist type station like dales, but I also like the addition of kevin's station.

My concerns so far with the ideas:

1) Dales design may leave hydraulic hoses and teleflex cables too exposed, and I'm rather clumsy and would get crap caught on it. Dales design also lacks stop and start buttons.

2) how do the start and stop buttons work... does the key need to be in the ignition and turned to on, but not turned to the start position to start the motor?

the hydraulic steering setup seems rather simple, as does changing my controls to morse type controls, and changing the cables to teleflex style, and getting rid of the yamaha binnicle (but then I also have to purchase and wire a trim button to replace the one on the yammy binnicle)

my new slip is on the manasquan inlet this year, and a second station would be really quite nice, since some of the drifts are kind of in hairy places, and running into the pilothouse isnt always convenient.

I liked the judge yacht idea and putting it right on the gunwale, but that seems like just another thing to get wacked on a piling.

start stop button requires ignition on. you can do teleflex controls or the yamaha dual station or switch it all to electronic. it depends on how much you have to spend and what's important to you. I personally wanted to leave all yamaha stuff but I also found a good deal on some used. if u have a single motor its a lot cheaper and easier.
