Has anyone ever taken on the project of replacing the carpeting in the pilot house portion of a 2520. I was thinking about replacing it and maybe not replacing all of it but to maybe finish and paint some areas. Any thoughts or suggestions, Thanks Mike

I haven't yet but I was thinking of pulling off the lower portions and gelcoating the unfinished glass.

Problem is the carpet glue underneath and mine still looks fine so its one of those if it ain't broke things.

Take pics if you decide to.

Our 1998 2520 had no carpet at all, just flat gel coat. I would like carpet, but here in Florida mildew is a constant problem and the gel coat is easy to keep clean. I imagine the carpet does keep it quieter, ours is quite noisy with the water lapping on the hull. It's hard to believe that Parker did not gel coat under the carpeted models?

My 2000 2320 is the same no carpet at all inside the PH. I actually prefer that a lot easier to keep clean. As far as noise it is a little noiser, I carpeted the vberth just on the port and starboard side, it cuts down on the water noise a lot. And they are removable so I take the carpet out in the winter to avoid mold etc....

miky2884, Removeable, what a great idea! I have to ask how did you achieve this? It looks really good and secure. We actually wax the cabin inside to help keep it clean and would hate to glue in any fasner. I had thought about snaps but hated the thought of drilling into the hull.

Well you can still hear the water lapping against the hull with the carpet but as you mentioned the mildew is the problem, and I like clean.

I originally thought I was going to have to glue them in which I was dead against doing. So then I thought I would use industrial grade velcro. But after i placed them in just to see how they fit I realized the v berth cushions fit so tightly up there that the cushions actually hold them in place. I have never had them slide down or move. The carpeting I used is the stiff outdoor carpeting which I think helps because it has a stiff backing which allows it to not fold.
