I visited my dealer today to see my new 2017 2820 Open Back and to talk about the dealer installed options and rigging. Once in the boat I noticed the hatch by the raw water wash down was different, different size and had a latch like the fish well rather than the plastic push latch. So, I opened it up and guess what I saw? Parker finally moved the battery switches to a useable location! No more laying on your belly and reaching around. Great change. I don't know exactly when the change occurred or what models are changed, but it was an unexpected bonus for me. I also learned that the new 2820s have a water tank and fresh water wash down as well as the raw water wash down, I somehow missed that. New 2-tone seats and cushions look nice as do the flip up bolsters.

But still no House battery.

Those switches operate just like a Perko, but they are smaller.

I like that door and latch better than the older style setup on my 2016. And that is a super convenient spot for controlling the batts. The only thing I would miss is being able to get to the scupper recess to clean it out.

The 2016 has a nice sized FW tank/system mounted in the center console. The raw water system draws off one of the livewell pumps and is accessed next to that new style door.

Question........my transom cap has a seam that I have noticed on the new style transoms. Did Parker get rid of the seam for 2017. Next week I am going to get rid of the seam and blend it all together. The only other change I needed to do was to get rid of the fuel vent air scrubber module under the gunwale.........that was such goofy thing and slowed down fueling.

Yea, I guess worse case I could pop out those 4 screws and give it a good cleaning a few times a year. Can't quite remember on my 2016 but I think I can view/check them from the center transom hatch. Where exactly is the seam?

Not sure what style gauges you had on your 25 but these are great.......love them.

Also just did the 20 hr on my motors.......so easy. The oil filter is right there and it is nearly impossible to spill a drop of oil while changing.

Jim, the seam is still there on the 2017s. I'm adding a 2nd pair of the factory blue LED cockpit lights right around where those rod holders are we were looking around that area for a good location. Another change that I just remembered, those 2 aft rod holders are now combination drink holders / rod holders. I think that's the Yamaha gauge on my new boat, it's similar but a little different what I had on the 2016 2520 w/ single outboard. Interesting at 4700 rpm your boat does 47 mph. I'd imagine then that it's pretty linear right up to 6000 rpm, right? 1.4 MPG is a good number at that speed! thanks

Those blue LEDs are nice. I didn't realize I had them until one night when my wife was aboard and she was impressed.

The speed v. rpms is linear. the 300s are designed to be fuel efficient between 3500 to just over 4000 then decline quickly as you see in the pic at 1.4 mpg. The boat will gallop along effortlessly at 3600 rpm at 36 mph getting 2.1 mpg (full fuel) which is very good considering my 2320 w/f250 heavily loaded would get around 2.4 mpg at cruise.

Enjoy that boat.

I put the led's under my gunnel last spring before I splashed. Imtra Corp makes them

Moving the battery switch to there is a great idea. Sometimes a real PITA to get to mine. Last fall had several occasions where the gasket around the hatch froze and could not open hatch to get to batteries

hang on....I'll snap a pic.

just fwd of the rod holder.

Just guessing but Parker saved on retooling plug/molds when they redesigned the transom rather than having to retool the entire cap. I just wish they would offer different style transoms using this approach. Filling in that seam would be my first move too. Beautiful boat you have and good luck!
