I just purchased a 1988 21' Sou Wester Parker from an older gentleman with a running 200hp Mercury 2 cycle. The boat is in immaculate condition for being over 20 years old. I am having it inspected now by a local shop.
I was not aware of the issues with older gas tanks corroding. The place I have the boat said he has seen it before but it doesn’t mean mine will be. I am curious if any of you have had this issue and if it is very common.

She runs, only had it out on Memorial Day and it was bogging down maybe water in gas or flooded carbs. But when she got on plan it was a great ride, cruised around 35mph through back bay VB. The gill plate is 2 feet back and has hydraulic jack plat on it and hydraulic trim tabs on the transom.
Working out the kinks now, just hope my gas tank inspection shows minor or no corrosion
