We have a 2530 Parker 1995 that has several weak spots, the plywood had separated around the live well hatch. In search of advise with or without pictures on the how to cut the existing out and replace the whole deck. Thanks for the replies..mark

Will get pictures soon, boat isn't close by at this time . The areas are around each gas tank and the live well hatch . When walking on these areas it flexes at least a quarter inch and when we removed the live well hatch to replace it the plywood there fell into the well , hopefully we will have it back home soon and I will try to post some pictures....thanks for the reply

Can I email pictures to someone to post for me on the deck replacement, I know this isn't the norm but I can't get it done , thanks for a reply

Would tend to agree. There is not much picture, but from what I see it looks like substantial stringer work. From past experiences, when I see black rotten wood it almost always moves along a good portion of the stringers. This appears to be a big job. I think some wider angle shots from multiple angles with pics of the stringers is needed.

Was letting it dry some , clean up more for more pictures. when you say stringers is this the walls that the deck is attached to for support ? Would I need to remove tanks to further inspect ? Thanks for posting pictures for me , and the input on the repair.... Chipper dog.

From the looks of that wood, something in there has been leaking for quite some time.
If you have a bait tank on deck, inspect all of the fittings very closely.

You don't get that much rot from rain water or deck washing.
I'm guessing something in there has been leaking for quite awhile.

And yes, while you have it open, it would be a good time to pull the tank for a close inspection and replacement of the fill and vent hoses.

After looking at the photos again...
In the third photo. Is that a below deck bait tank?

If it is, my guess is that is the source of your problem.

yes that is a bait well , and we think this was the source as well . The bottom side of the existing wood was glassed , was thinking this could have helped save stringer damage but accellerated the wood damage holding the water in the deck as the stringers look solid and do not appear to have any weak spots around the top.

After cleaning the boat up , there has been any other damage found. Will be replacing deck with treated plywood and have it glassed back in and repainted. Thanks for the replies .

Are you talking about salt treated yellow pine? Most of it in stores here is Cdx grade which is loaded with voids in the plys.I was always told to glass over ac fir which has more plys and less voids.I always have used fir but treated the edges and back with west system before installing them.

You have to put a layer of glass on Fir. Just coating it with resign it will Check. The glass stops the checking. The underside would be fine with 6oz cloth on it.

I can explain Checking if need be.
