Easy Boat Cover

This is my 15th year covering my Parker 2520. I used to build a very time consuming pvc frame, dreaded doing it every year. Thought about ways of making it easier, figured I‘d share this because it was so easy, reusable and cheap. The 8’ step ladders were $45 a piece, 12’ 2x4s were $11 each, $20 worth of cargo straps, everything reusable. Took less then a 1/2 hour to set up the frame.

That's funny you should post this method: It's actually exactly what I use on my flats boat: 4 foot ladder to keep the cover over the side helm and water just runs right off. I thought I was genius....clearly, it's the industry that is genius. Nice work.

Great job, it works, economical and working as a team on the home-front as you are saving dollars..I did the same for several years but my problem was boat was an hour away and exposed to the wind. I came up with all kinds of methods to suspend and tie down multiple tarps with 2x4 supports, straps, weighted bottles, PVC etc. The wind would eventually rip and then it was all down hill. I was an hour away and would visit every 2-3 weeks to adjust. When Sandy storm was coming, I moved the boat inland to a boat yard prior and the following year invested in a well manufactured Fisher cover. Initial investment was a little steep but the longer I go it pays for itself. My preference is your method but distance and wind dictated. Great job!

I use a custom made wooden frame and a 25’ x 40’ heavy duty tarp. Works great, but is time consuming to install in the winter and remove in the spring. Better than letting 3’ of snow pile up on the deck.
