I am in the process of buying a new 2320 with a new F200. I have the option for $6600 more to get the new fly by wire 250. The f 200 is a proven engine, hard to go wrong with it, but does anybody have some feedback on the new fbw systems. Do I need it? Is it worth it? Are there reliability issues? Or is the f200 plenty of power and I should save the $6600 for fuel?

Any info would help, supposed to settle on Feb 19 and am trying to get all info I can before then!

Thanks everyone

Cory,

I hope to be able to give you some feedback really soon. I recently purchased a new FBW 250 and the shop finally received all the parts to complete the installation. They moved the boat inside this morning and started removing the old OX66. I'm hoping we will have the boat in the water in a few days.

I'll give you my $0.02 worth after the initial run. I'm hoping for a positive outcome because it cost me way more than $0.02.

i bought a 2320 2011 last sept. test drove it with the 200 it was ok with 3 guys on the boat no gear 1/4 tank of gas i went with the 250 best move i ever made very happy with the 250 i think 200 would be under powered when in real life boating

thanks guys. bikerrozo you sold me. I was 80% there and you pushed me over the edge. Are you very satisfied with your 2320?

I replaced the 225 ox 66 with the F250 w/ fly by wire controls on my 1999 2310 late fall 2009. Have 115 hours on the motor. I obviously have been very satisfied with the 2310 or I would not have repowered it. Bought the boat new in 2000.

The motor and controls have been great. Much better power than the ox66 and much better fuel economy. I would not recommend any less horsepower. I think you will be very happy with the F250.

Have had my 2010 - 2320 with F250 for alittle more than a year now and LOVE IT! Trolling in the Keys, bottom fishing and scalloping in the Big Bend area of the Gulf or just cruising the St. John's River with 5-6 adult family members, you can't beat it. Can't imagine it powered with anything less than the F250. You'll love it too. :D

Based on what Ed's has on their website for other manufacturers, it looks like the average addl. cost when going from a 200 to a 250 is right around $2500. So, that means the FBW would be costing you $4100.

I got to mess around a bit w/ B-Faithful's DTS Opti a few years ago. While the electronic throttle/shift was nice, I wouldn't fork over 4 G's for it. A properly maintained/lubricated throttle w/ top of the line Teleflex TFXtreme cables gave silky smooth operation on my old Grady.

Is the electronic F250 your only option, or can you dealer install the standard F250?
