My 2300 CC has a hinged platform at the front of the bow. One of the options on my boat was a MSD porta potty that would fit underneath. If I don't have the pad over this piece and I hit any type of chop this flap bangs down on it's base. I've looked under this piece and found a screw attached to the bottom. On the receiving area of the fish platform insert (attached to the bow of the boat) there seems to be some type of plastic receptor that doesn't appear broken? I assume these two parts are supposed to lock and keep this flap form pounding on the base but I don't know how?

Thanks for your help.

if I think i have an idea of what your describing is that the screw head 'snaps" into the plastic clip to hold the little deck area down. If it is not staying closed maybe the plastic clip got a little worn over the years. adding some layers of electrical tape or other rubber like materail to the screw head my add some more grip when the screw head snaps into the plastic clip. Let me know if this is the area and i or you can load some pics to explain better.

I had a couple of clips like what you describe holding the two doors closed on my transom.
Over time, they wore out and the doors would continually slap, slap, slap...

I replaced the worn out catches with a pair of magnetic cabinet catches.
No more slap, slap, slap!

what you are looking for is what is called "Plastic Ball & Socket Catch part # 177055 West Marine and its made by Perko

That's the area I was trying to describe. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give the tape a try to see if it helps.
If not, I may try the magnetic option.

Thanks again
