Has anyone put in a fish hold or fish box other than the one across the transom? Any ideas? I dont think the one on the transom can old to many albacore. The other option is a kill bag across the swim step.

Hello Peter,

I use the 'fish box' on the transom of my 2530 as a bleed box.

I tuck two coolers in the relief area to port and starboard of the deck.

It keeps about 6" of cooler out of the way.

I pack one full of ice, the other empty.

After the fish are caught and bled, they go into the empty box and ice is transfered from the one cooler. Once (and if) the fish cooler is full, we put the fish in the ice cooler and move the ice about as required.

A kill bag hung on the transom across the Armstrong bracket would work . . . caution on damaging your swim ladder mounts (if you have them).

Peter Parker,

I have a fish hold in the stern of my 2520 parker (notch transom model). It came from the factory this way.

Here’s another look it’s just behind the bait tank.

The only problem with the factory fish hold it that all the water on the deck drains right in. It should have a seal of some sort, and it will once I get time to fix it.

It's fairly large, I poured my 100 quart ice chest in there four times and it still was not at the top. You should be able to get an idea from Parker where to place one on your boat if you are serious.

From what I understand he got Parker to make a few changes. Mostly being the notch transom, and he said they moved the fuel tank forward a bit. Helps the boats balance. Not sure how much as I have never been on a bracketed model.

If I were going to have a fish box made something like mine I would definitely have it insulated. I'm going to insulate mine as soon as I figure out how I want to do it.

Cool thanks. By the way, I fished the Outrider Monday out of the 22nd street landing. I'd never been up to San Pedro. Its nice!

PeterParker- not to dampen your enthusiasm, but TopShot's "Mark Wisch"'s forward gas tank may be the only reason he can get that fishbox. im pretty sure that if you have a standard sportcabin, your gas tank is going to get in the way of installing that fishbox. i know on my '90s 2530, the gas tak is within 3" of the underside of the deck, and extends pretty much until about a foot before the bilge hatch. im not sure whatthe setup might be on your rig, but make sure you check it out before you cut any holes

I ALSO HAVE THE SAME FISH BOX IN MY BECK AND I WILL TELL YOU THAT I CAN STUFF IT FULL WITH 43 25 POUNDS ALBICORE PACKED ON ICE AND LOOKING GOOD

If you call the factory with your HIN number, they can probably tell you if the modification is possible on your boat, and even where to cut in order to do the job properly.

I have a 1995 2520DVSC with a single F250. In my opinion, the tank should be moved aft. My deck bairly drains at rest, especially with less then 1/2 a tank of gas. Twins would alter the equation somewhat.

Also, I'm pretty sure my tank extends nearly all the way up to the bulkhead where you step down into the pilot house. If they moved it forward, I would think the pilot house would be impacted. Is this the case ?

On my boat, the area forward of the stern hatch is wide open for several feet, and the bilge is very deep at that point. Bottom line, there is oodles of room to add something here. I'm reluctant to do anything because of the safety aspects of a sealed deck and I hate having to clean fishwells whenever I'm on boats that have them.
