Flat Section on back of 2100SE Hull

The last 2 feet or so of my 2100 SE’s hull is flat (ie. no deadrise). I guess you might call this a “cut out”. Any experts know why this is? I’ve heard of Carolina hulls designed this way to help in a following sea. Is this it?

I’m just curious.
