Since I removed my bait well to replace the fill and drain hose, I was thinking of filling it with foam so it would hold ice longer. Can I use some of the stuff that the depot sells, and do you think it will help?

Wa$te of $$ to try it that way IMHO, buy 2-part expanding foam from sources like this:

http://www.uscomposites.com/

But be AWARE that expanding foam can POP APART parts, so I'd talk to the vendor about it. You make even need to make a temporary frame of strapping, 4 pieces up a little on the side and down a little on the side, using 4-pieces at each spot, with just a bolt in the corner holding the ends - see sketch.

From what I know, you don't want to cut into sealed foam, so they (of Bobby [Warthog]) might have a neat trick for sneaking up on the amount to fill. Even if you needed 2-3 fill steps to insulate it, it would work.

It's not going to pop anything apart on that, as the excess will rise out of the bottom. But there needs to be a chaseway made so that you can get a hose back on that side fitting.

It will help you hold ice better, but there needs to be a insulated lid for best results.
