I have a 2004 2501 with a 300 hp Yamaha 2 stroke and seem to be using
a lot of fuel about 1 mile to the gallon, I bought the boat 1 year ago. I
am wanting to know if this is normal and what is the recomended prop
for this engine on this boat.

1mpg seems pretty steep. I have twin 225s and dont get that bad. I am 1.20-1.7 depending on load and seas.

According to that data sheet you should be spinning a 19 but I never believe those things. So 2.0mpg would be more realistic and 19 or 18 pitch would be a good start. It could be possible that your management system is not correct or having issues. Do you have a flo scan or command link stuff?

Actually that is about correct for that motor assuming yo u r running it a little hard...

yam2x 250/300 avg 1.1 on a 7800lb load in medium seas on a 9.5' beam boat that measures 26'

I know this bcause my buddies yam 250 on a grady has floscan and is a 232 which is the same as above mentioned specs.....

Ps he is currently in market for a new boat with twin 4x ..i wonder y???

What is your Prop Size and Manufacture?

The wrong prop could cause poor fuel economy...
