The fuel filter located to the front of my 2006 150 FS is in a clear bowl has a wire connected to the bottom. To remove this the wire needs to be disconnected, but is there a special tool to remove the filter housing? If so where do I get one what do you all use to remove this ?

The fuel filter on the front of the motor (F150) can be difficult to get access to. THe retaining ring can get frozen with time and be a real pain. I have kept mine in good shape because of your current problem. Anybody got an easy way to un-freeze this without breaking the ring or housing?

PS. Porkchunker might be thinking of the standard water separator filter that unscrews like an oil filter (the big blue one). Then again it's late, and I may be whacked!

The newer F150's use a different filter cup. It screws directly into the fuel filter mount. There is no retainer ring used with the new configuration.

The filter cup can swell with ethanol making it a b1tch to unscrew and to get back on. Also, the nylon threads are very fine and easy to cross thread.

Yamaha makes a special filter wrench to unscrew the cup. See ur dealer.
