Hi Guys I need to replace my fuel tank vent that comes out from the side of the boat. The other day a piece of it broke off, must have hit the side of the dock. Is there a easy way to access this vent? It looks like I have to take the seat out on that side to get to the vent? Can I make a access hole?

For your model year, I'm pretty certain the factory installed a Perko black plastic vent that protruded about 1" from the hull side. I did a quick search and looks that particular model been discontinued by Perko. I would recommend changing it to a flush model such as the following from Gemlux:

You'll just have to make a bigger hole - easy job.

I just replaced the same plastic one on my 1800. I had to make hole bigger but super easy job. On my boat I can get right to the hose though. I went with the flush mount style like attached picture shows.

I just replaced mine this past offseason. Threads finally stripped out from taking it on and off every year to soak the screen in vinegar. Plastic threads trying to mate with male metal threads, they don't last very long. If you want to keep this style, I have a couple of extra caps that go on the outside I think, have to check this weekend.

That fitting shown above is used in conjunction with this. http://www.gemlux.com/catalog/vents-fuel/950

The Stainless piece is installed to point UP.

The P trap goes on the end pointed UP and then points Down.

If you have installed just the Stainless piece and pointed it down......You have created a direct path for water to enter your fuel tank.

Greetings,

My 2002 2510 XLD showing its age and needed the fuel vent replaced due to corrosion after 22 years of service.

I purchased the gemlux flush gas vent mentioned previously.

https://gemlux.com/collections/marine-fuel-vents/products/908

The installation is simple. I removed the port side cubby panel for access to the fuel lines where they meet the hull and removed the old perko fuel vent fitting. The gemlux flush fuel vent requires a 1 3/8" hole and I used a scrap of 3/4" plywood with an identical alignment hole to use as a jig to enlarge the original vent hole. An extra pair of hands held this jig in place while I operated the drill in reverse to allow the holesaw to cut the new hole in the gelcoat without walking. Once the holesaw had started a nice groove in the glass I removed the jig and continued carefully finishing the hole running the drill in forward.
I filed any sharp edges, wiped with denatured alcohol, added a thin film of petit sealant and installed the new fitting. The fuel hoses were replaced a few years ago.

Thanks!
