Worked on my family cruiser today. I hope to splash her shortly after this nor'easter passes. She has had a more aggressive non skid added and now has 12 rod holders top side.. I also got my planer boards painted up if I can squeeze a weekday tip or two (work better slow down a lot first)

Lookin' Good.

What are the white boards in the last picture?

the white boards are planer boards. They will be towed from the hard top to pull lines away from the boat much like outriggers. The advantages of planer boards over outriggers are that they tow baits out in clean water, you can run more lines to either side. (lines are 75' each side), they tow the lines closer to the water than outriggers, and they are cheaper than outriggers. Many charter boat capts in the bay said that if they had to tow one line they would run off of a planer as it gets the baits in clean water away from the boat and its power noise. The disadvantage to outriggers are they are more work to operate, they tend not to want to track right in big seas (unless you run big boards), they dont pull the lines high enough for skip baits and they are only suited for slow trolling.
