Thanks to Stan & Jean :D , I'll be steering from the roof next season, sea state permitting ;) of course!

Let the new project begin ... oh well, there goes the mahogany transom overlay for the 2010 season ...

You going to build a box or did the tower come with one??

What about a buggy top?

We expect full pics and progress updates. :D

Build, teak or mahogany brightwork (of course!) to match the boat and look like it came out of Rybovich. Am thinking of a simple pod style helm box, with wheel in the center and two single-lever controls, one on each side, gear on port, throttle to starboard.

Don't need/want one ...

You betcha!

What's difference if any in a tower and a fly bridge ?

fly bridge is a fiberglass structure built on the cabin top that contains the controls, much like another deck. its usually the primary steering station. whereas a tower is a structure made of welded piping that either sits directly on top of the cabin top (marlin tower) or has a taller support structure and its own standing platform (tuna tower). towers can be added after construction and are usually secondary stations, whereas flybridges usually are constructed with the boat.

sweet. does it need to be foldable? if not then it looks nice to have the rigging tubes be 2" pipe angled down to drop in at the front corner of the house. then you can have the fabricator run some pipe inside and down into the helm. I have some pics on here if you want. Are you going to make it so you sit down to drive? I have seen a few go fast boats in Palm beach that have that one yellowfin in particuar. Judging by the way that is set up you will more than likely be sitting down. You will love it up there. I tend to drive up there more than inside. Even when it is a little bumpy but i have my tower more towards the midpoint of the boat with the longer cabin. Either way it will be awesome!!

OMG ... the guy who made that pod sprayed it with 21 coats of varnish  over epoxy! Holy toledo ... I've only been doing 3-5, but over 3 coats of epoxy. Maybe that's why I touch it up every 2-3 years ...
