Parker Faithful:

I am a proud new owner of a 2005 1801 (end of last Fall), and am in the process of making it "mine". I am looking to upgrade an old sonar/depthfinder with a combined unit that is a minimum of a decent GPS and Depth Sounder, would also like fishfinder capability in the unit if possible. Suggestions? Much appreciated.

Put a Garmin 4208 combo in mine and love it. Although I'm sure there's better units on the market, it's simple to use and I was familiar with Garmin. Got it from Jim at BOE

Thanks Guys. Brent, which Garmin unit did you get? I'd like a larger screen than 5", but don't have a lot of room to work with on the 1801. The Raymarine units I have seen at West Marine are big overall for the size of screen you get.

Andy, your Garmin unit is sweet, but I think a little big for my rig. I was thinking something slightly smaller and more in the $1,000-$1,500 range.

I have a Garmin 545s with G2 map. It is no longer being made.
WHen I upgrade, I will use it for standalone FF and backup GPS
Prices are lower today and look at the BOE site for items in your budget.
They sell refurbished units and factor in the cost of maps
