I have a set of taco gunnel mount rigger bases that came with my parker, and were never installed. I could use some help with where to mount them?

Thought about pilothouse roof, but cant fit with tuna tower. Gunnels would be a snap as they are intended for, but they will be low to the water, seems like not ideal. Or... the ~4" wide ledge running along pilothouse just below window? Would be a little higher up off the water?

OR......

Thanks

Pretty sure the extra 2-3 feet between the gunnel and the roof isnt going to make that much of a difference. The outriggers are designed to keep the lines apart from one another. The speed is going to determin how deep they are in the water. Most applications of outriggers are up high because it puts them out of the way for the most part.

For some toona trolling outrigahs are all about height, i.e., the way it affects the bars, where you can position them, and how fast you can troll.

Your ledge idea could work, if room to mount them, but before you drill holes, make sure the pole will clear the roof overhang if you needed to bring them in along side, and not out of the holders. You'll need a plug or cap too, as those riggah mounts have hollow bases, so otherwise rain will enter into your cabin.

DaleH if height off the water is the issue, I could just get longer poles? and go with the gunnel mount on the gunnel? Either way, what kind of poles are best suited for tuna trolling?

Thanks

To be clear ... it depends. We use squid bars up here and one needs height to make sure the bars run correctly in the wash. They make them 15' and 18' and larger, just get the largest diameter ones for the size. Your fishery could be totally different and you may only need spread versus height.
