I've searched and haven't found anything with post or numbers of anyone running a 4.2l on there 21se. I have a 2005 21se currently with a 150, it's rated for 225. I've been tossing around the idea of putting a vf200 on for a couple years but am wondering what the performance numbers are. Top speed, speed and mpg at cruise rpm (36-4200 rpm). Right now I'm usaully between 23-25 mph at cruise rpm with my 150.

Wondering what the numbers are with any 4.2 yamaha vf200-vf250, or f225 , f250, f300. Thank you.

I would think an I4 F200 would kick butt and be 6k cheaper than a 225. The 200 uses 89, 225 uses 87.
You can buy a lot of 89 for 6k.

Well looks like I'll be the guinea pig. Have this vf250 sitting in my bay so should have it on in a week or so. Throwing a 5" spacer on it tmmrw to make it a 25.

Well I finally had some time today to take the boat to my job and get everything wired up. New fuel line, new battery cables, etc.

Ran into some issues when trying to add the spacer because the 20" vf engine is a very specific pattern. Normal 4.2 offshore spacers don't fit, it actually an f150 spacer. Had the drive shaft welded to extend 5" and had a water pickup extension and shift shaft laying around i used. Could have saved myself the head ache but the deal on this 20" motor was just to good to pass up.

Good news is the SHO motor clears both sides of my transom when trimmed up all the way, so that means any 4.2 yamaha will as well.

I have 3 props to run but currently set it up with a rev4. If I have time I'll splash it tommarow and see how it performs
