Hey,

I've searched the site and have not found any topics concerning replacement of the helm chair. I have a 2004 2120DV and was thinking about upgrading my helm chair. Does anyone have any pictures of upgraded chairs? included is a picture of the one I was interested in using. Any advice or suggestions would be a great help. Thanks.

MAN
Now thats what I call a chair
But the price even for that is Kinda high
Is that price with the pedistal ??
Can you just get the cushion ?
Flat Butts what to know

Yes that's just for the chair, no pedistal or anything...just the chair! I'd have to use all my old hardware including brackets to attach the chair.
That being said: It is my intention to invest in a Seaspension post for this new chair because everyone says that's the thing to do, and I get that.
I just am not a big fan of my current 2004 model plastic $146.00 chair. It serves it's purpose but I was looking for something a little better. After hours in the chair,
you start to understand that a 1 inch foam cushion isn't enough. Pound a few waves and seaspension sounds good at any price. (not that Parkers Pound)
Also, I would like something that I added to the boat, to kind of put my mark on it, and what better than a helm chair?
Would I be the first person to ever change the helm chair on this site? I can't believe that? What other cool helm chairs are you guys running?
Also, as chairs go, that's a real cheap price, it seems all the cool ones are $1500 to 2K!!

Thoughts?

My thoughts??

If I'm spending $1500-$2000 on my Parker its going to be for something like side scan, new GPS, maybe a new set of props, etc.

Not a chair. My 2530 has the "bigger" chair that Parker offers, maybe that would be better for you???

Get the seaspension first, then if needed upgrade the chair.

I thought you said money was tight in the livewell thread, now, 2 grand for a chair?

Just my .02.

Hmmmm... (Thought to self: how to respond?)
I appreciate your input and your analysis of my previous posts.
Your honest response stings just a little. (I think I was just Bitch slapped! )
So here is my reasoning on the topic:
Money is always tight. This is a given.
I feel Parkers Rule and have seen many members show pictures of modification/cusomizations,
which always fascinate and excites me! I love all the photo's of the gear and layouts members post here.
I want to upgrade and customize my boat to fit my use of her.
I'd love to upgrade to a Raymarine E series widescreen multifunction display. (12 inches)
Radar, chartplotters and GPS but Good Lord it's $8000 to get in!
Who wouldn't love the Thermal Night Vision Camera with pan/tilt? ($9000 to $14,000)
My problem is money is tight! But I work hard, and on occation can find a little overtime.
Once a year the Admiral agrees to a frivolous purchase within reason.
This is going to be that purchase. It's reasonablly priced with the Seaspension post just pushing it to the Top,
The very Top of the Admirals budget requirments for 2012. And I figure Heck, Why not buy something cool for the boat.
I have everything I need for fishing. I'm not even that good at it yet. I've got three downriggers I don't even use.
I sure don't need out riggers yet. The pilot house is pretty sweet as it stands. The only thing that could be better is maybe
a new radio and speakers or a helm chair. Since I have a radio that works good enough, I'm going with the chair.
So I figured I'd check in for some advice from the experts here at Classic Parker and see what other people are doing.
I checked using the search engine using many terms but didn't find what i was looking for and thought I'd ask.
I do appreciate your feedback as it centers my reality a touch.
I do feel strongly about a helm chair upgrade currently an believe I will move forward.
I have some time before I do anything and we will see if I still feel strong enough about it, to make the purchase when the time comes.
Your input will weigh into my decision, so thanks.

Capt. Bill

P.S - Dale how do I add someone to my Foes List?

If it were my sled I would go to your nearest Parker dealer and order the helm chair for the 2520. It fits perfectly on the existing pedestal post in either the 2320 or the 2120. If that is not comfortable enough, as suggested, go for a Seaspension post and then you are as pampered as it gets.

Nice!
See maybe that's the problem here.
You have to remember what I have, I need an upgrade.
I shall think long and hard on this.

I chose to relocate OEM helm chair per the pic. Works for me.........I like to fish 3 people so everyone has a spot for the long ride out.

FWIW the 2520 ladderback chair also functions as a comfortable leaning post if you lock down the swivel handle.

Capt. Bill

Hope you don't take offence from my post...
It was just a little barnacle busting
I think your input is great and gave me some good info and thought
For my own helm chair which needs a change also
I like how you post pics and links on your ideas
Its what makes this site well worth having
Sometimes comments can come off stronger when posted then spoken
With out meaning to be as strong as perceived
And that is a great looking seat!

LOL, I just think if you put that big puffy thing in the pilot house there, someone might mistake your 2120 for a Bayliner, Regal, Rinker or some other clorox bottle boat.

Obviously you can do whatever you want, thats what makes Parkers great boats, go with the factory stuff though if for nuthing else, resale value.

You won't get anything back from a $2000 seat.

I would not get that puffy chair dude - that thing is for like the helm of a sportfisher, where you can actually lean back and relax why running through 2-4's. Doesnt happen sub 30 feet.

PETER

I was thinking about getting a new lazy boy for my living room and moving the old one to my helm

I am whiping out my 2 bucket seats, tackle storage, drawers, and rocket launchers and putting one of these bad boys in back of my console.
