Using Bryan's tip :D here: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=12671 I mounted my new SS Ongaro dual trumpet horn off my radar mount.

I just disassembled the front of the horn bracket and put one trumpet on each side of the radar mast. For now I just put a long SS bolt down from the radar baseplate to the front mount, so that there is a downward angle to the horn install. Allegedly these Ongaro units are all SS components, to include the diaphragm, but it doesn't hurt to make sure it sheds and drains both weather and water.

I got that horn for something like $60 when either Bryan or Brent told us here of a half-price sale at Defender on these units.

.. the baseplate is a "kluge", for now, as it really is 2 baseplates, the old one affixed to the mast and then the new one. The size and bolt pattern is different and I didn't want to fool around with it now, when I have more pressing items that need to be done before she floats. Of course the 9-days away in KW sure didn't help in getting the boat ready ... but it sure did me some good!

I've had the Ongaro's fail even with a down angle on them. But yours has a much more radical angle.

They do make a piece that covers the front to protect it.

But I've had enough trumpet horns. The next one is a drop in going in the bottom of the Crows Nest console.

It's disappointing to spend extra money to try and buy High quality stuff only to have it fail with little use, :(

Maybe that's something else to consider ... like cycling it as you enter/leave the harbor/mooring/docking area to exercise it more ...

Looks good!!

I think Brent or John from Madison posted that link, I remember going through the airhorn decision at the time it posted.

Last week I went to use my air horn and it sounded like sh!t, I was pissed.

Took it apart at the horn, only thing inside is a lexan diaphram, nothing to rust BUT........

.....it was full of pollen!! WTF??? you can't win I guess, my boat was sitting into the prevailing west wind all week and the horn loaded up with pollen, hopefully we will be past that in a week or so.

Other than that, I enjoy the air horn.
