Almost pulled the trigger on a 2000 2520. The interior carpet has a problem. When you run your fingers over the carpet it looks like salt is raining down. Not sure if it is salt or the carpet deteriorating. Love the boat and everything else is great, nuts needs a good cleaning and waxing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem when I bought my used 2520 in 2011. After joining this site I got an edjucation on getting the cabin ventilated properly. But that is your next step. I vacuumed the carpet and used a rug cleaner, but what I eventually needed to do to get it spotless was mix up a spray bottle with 25% bleach and 75% water and give it a light spray. I know bleach can help to deteriorate cloth so I kept it light. worked great and 4 years later the carpet is still good. even with the boat well ventilated now ,I still may get a bit here and there so a light spray occasionally keeps everything nice. Its not a deal breaker

Bought mine a few years ago and the carpet was dirty. Removed what I could for electronics and everything that I could get out of the pilot house, bought a couple of cans of spray on carpet cleaner, let it sit a while then hit it with the power washer. Pick a warm day and in the summer it dried out very quickly. Watch where you are spraying not getting the dash area even cover it with plastic. I am not sure what is coming out of the carpet on the one you are looking at so plan accordingly...replacement? Mine came out great with what I did.

Recently purchased a 2005 2310 that had alot of carpet issues. The bleach and water trick worked great for the mold and mildew stains. I used a garden type sprayer since I was doing the complete interior. I removed all the cushions and pulled the interior panels that the pilot house models dont have and got way back under the bridge deck. This boat had always sat in the water in San Diego so it had a fair amount of mold.
i also sprayed all around the interior of the transom and under the gunnels. Wash off the bleach in the transom area and did a little scrubbing in the stubborn spots and it looks great now.
The carpet came out pretty good except for the rust stains. I also have what I believe is the old glue to hold the carpet on has bled through the carpet and has discolored it In some areas.
my guess is that the carpet is 100% man made fibers so bleach should not affect it.

Folex. Its great stuff. Spray on, massage in with fingers, and blot with a clean towel. It's a very popular product among auto detailors due it's great cleaning effectiveness and safety with fabrics and other materials encountered in homes and autos.

I removed the rust stains on the interior carpet using Phosphoric acid, also known as Osfo. Great for new rust stains on the carpet and on FG. serious rust stains on FG will require polishing. Removes surface rust on metals as well.
