Guys own a 25 DVSC with the older style mates bench that faces forward, Helm seat is a ladder back pedalistal chair. I'm looking for a place to shelf a microwave or a k-cup machine for coffee. I have shore power to a GFI outlet on board so operating one at the dock no problem, but at sea how large of an invertor would you need? Has anyone retro - fitted this project, do you have pics?

why not get a Honda generator instead of an inverter?
Much easier to deal with IMHO

Pictured is a Honda EU1000i. It will run any of these appliances, albeit one at a time. It also powers our 6,000BTU boat air conditioner.

I had one similar to this, but now I have no reason to carry propane.

What kind of Micro do you have that a 1000, will power, we had to sell the 1000 and get a 2000 to power all our gooddies, but, it is wayyyy better than an inverter, IMO only, nothing can go wrong, well you know what I mean !

The one you see above is a WalMart cheapie; 1050 watts in, 600 watts out. It'll run on eco-throttle. Coffee maker and Forman are 900 watts and the heater is 750 and 1500 watts. The 1000i obviously won't run the heater on 1500...be sure to get one with a dual heat setting.

Here are some pics of a 3000 watt inverter I installed under the bed in my motorhome. It will surge to 10,000 watts. It runs the large microwave, toaster, coffee pot, even the rooftop air ocnditioner at night. It serves as a heavy duty 3-stage charger also, when AC is applied. The battery bank shown consists of a pair of 6-volt Trojan floor-scrubber/golf-cart batteries. They are 400 Amp-hour batteries, but require probably more power than your O.B. can put back into them in a short period of time. It all depends on how deep and often you plan to discharge them. I charge them with the motorhome's generator. Based on the battery bank size, the inverter's charger can force hundreds of charging amps into the batteries. When out for days, this allows the generator to be loaded heavily during charging, and ultimately runs the generator less minutes per day than lightly loading it every time just a few hundred watts are needed here and there. If you don't need the inverter to charge, you can purchase a physically smaller inverter for similar wattage output. The DC wiring shown is 000-gauge. Both batteries total 200 pounds.

I use a coleman dual burner to boil cofffe while making scrambled eggs and mapel sausage at the same time. Then I start on the hash browns.
