I need to install a fishfinder on the new boat (1801). What is reccomended when it comes to running the ducer cables to the transom? I thought about just drilling a hole through the transom battery box and run the cable through. Also, do the cables run through a tube or just wired together under the deck? Any help would be great, thanks Jesse

Kinda depends on how "professional" you want the install to look.

I prefered not to drill any more holes in the transom than necessary (especially big ones), so I just ran the cable through one of the starboard scupper holes.

My big issue was the placement of the transducer. Had it too far to stbd initially, got bad readings. Then brought it closer to center and a little lower so I had more "unit" in the water and now it works great.

BACK AWAY FROM THE DRILL :D

You can get an Airmar thru hull transducer instead of adding on back of transom. If interested, search CP, plenty of info.

As far as wiring, no boat is easier than Parker to rig. Pull up cover over gas tank sending unit, remove four screws and lift boot in console. Easy to fish wire 5' or so. I use a piece of house wire or some old 1/4" tubing. I also like to use split loom wiring cover.

Happy rigging.
