Going to replace tstats, poppet valve, impeller, oils etc., this weekend and while I don't think I'll have any problems doing so, it sure would be nice to have a manual handy.

Anyone know of one? ONLINE version.

Someone told me some fuel line has to be removed to get to the Tstats. Manual would illustrate whether that was going to be an issue or not...

I found this diagram in the parts catalog, so now I know what a poppet looks like ( #8) . All I need to do now is find what part of the engine the picture is illustrating.

Better than nothing...

FWIW to those that would like to do their own tstats and don't know where they are....

Part illustrated - #19

An email to Andy could verify, but I would think that the F225 and F250 should be quite similar, so far as the items you are looking to service.

I was able to obtain a manual and after some perusing, I think I discovered that my motor doesn't have a poppet valve. I guess poppet valves are on 2 strokes. Go figure.

Pulled the boat today, going to start working on it on Friday, weather permitting. We're getting some robust winds and rain today.

The F250 most certainly does have a poppet/pressure control valve. It is item number 8 in the illustration above. You have to remove a plastic skirt at the rear of the motor (right below the engine pan/lower cowling) to gain access to it.

Most Yam four strokes, the new SHO and Offshore series excluded, have poppet valves.

Yeah, after getting a copy of the service manual, it's apparent that the 4 strokes also have pressure control valves. I thought maybe the diagram I posted above was not the pcv I was looking to replace I called the dealer about replacing it and they told me that replacing the pcv on a 250 is not an easy, DIY task. It's not as easy as removing a skirt and replacing the part, like the thermostat for example. They said on 4 strokes, the pvc rarely malfunctions and are rarely replaced. Don't know for sure, just what they said.

Anyway, with the help of the manual, I did change oil, filters, thermostats, impeller, zincs and re greased. Going to have to live with that until I figure out just how hard the pcv is to replace.
