Anyone try K-Planes?

I don't know anyone here who has...

K-planes are designed with a narrow width to fit the limited transom area of the 'fast-and-loud boats'.
Those boats generally have a narrow beam, and multiple outboards or outdrives, thereby limiting trim tab choice.
The 'span' or width of a k-plane was designed specifically for this limited transom area.

Our boats are not speed boats, they are heavier, 'wider beam' fishing boats that perform better with a tab with more span, and less chord than k-planes.

And yes... we have at least one member here who installed a set of 30x9 Bennetts on the transom of his single-outboard 2520.

They usually mount a few inches from the bottom of the hull to reduce drag while not being used and not over-tabbling while running hard and stuffing the bow in rough conditions. They probably work well but I wouldn't want to fish around 30" tabs while drifting the inlets.

Why hasn't Parker come up with a different, better riding hull design. Has there been any R&D for a new hull?

I can't (and don't) speak for the company... but the present hull design(s) are those of a fishing boat.
They aren't cruisers (tho they can and do cruise), and they certainly aren't a SKA go-fast in the Contender or SeaVee class.
These are wide beam fishing boats where cockpit room is one of their primary attributes.
An attribute most fishermen (at least in this forum) seem to like.

Pick a model... my 2520 MVSC for example.

Where else in the market will you find a boat with 100 square feet of unobstructed cockpit, and a stay-dry cabin?
And... the 25'SC can be had as a 16 degree modified-vee hull, or as a 21 degree deep-vee hull.
My boat seen above, is the older, 14 degree hull which is no longer produced.

The 25' hull can also be had as a walk-around or a center console, so whatever design you prefer you can have it on a hull that has passed the test of time.
Have these hulls been tweaked over time by the factory? Absolutely.
In fact, one of the more visible changes has been the addition of tab pockets, and I would guess there have been improvements below deck as well.

There isn't a boat made that is perfect for everything.
That is why cruisers like SeaRay, go-fast folks like Cigarette, and the SKA folks like Contender or SeaVee.
Regular fishermen like us... prefer Parker.

I agree, they are well made boats and there really isn't much else in this class that will do all the same. The reason I mention it is, everyone complains about the ride has ways to improve the way the boat handles. I installed 4 blades this morning and they helped, but the boat still rides with the bow sky high, now I'm pulling the boat and raising the motors, shopping for Larger tabs (which are already big for a boat this size) and possibly adding lead to the anchor cabinet all to drop the bow...

I have been on other boats that do not have the presigious Parker name that ride a lot better. If all of this information is known by the manufacturer, why not try to change a few aspects of the boat, for example maybe the fuel tank needs to be move further forward to help compensate for the bracket and the extra weight of the 4 stroke engines. I'm sure this hull with 2 stroke motors mounted on the transom the boat handles a lot different.

FYI... I am not saying that I do not like Parker boats and I am not knocking them, I am just stating that people that own them should not have to do the R&D to make them ride and handle better, Parker should! I'm sure I'm not the only person that thinks this way look at the forums on here about changing props, changing tabs, changing motor height, etc...

Really? Youre kidding, right :D ? I mean, I'm already fishing around an almost 10' beam hull, full width swim platform, and well below that are 24" planes ... and I have never hooked the big azz motor, nevermind the tabs, though inexperienced crew has, haha! To me, that 6" extra width of tab would be nothing to worry about ;) . I do take the extra seconds to set the drift to the prevailing wind/current conditions, and 80% of my fishing is in rips whilst drifting.

All boats ... all ... are COMPROMISES. I never looked at Parkers as I thought they looked like Clorox bottles (too much all one color and boxy), plus I could never afford a 'new' one, but after having one, it is perfect for my needs! To me, what causes the biggest FELT sensation from the ride is the cabin being so far forward.

Sorry I should've clarified that the 30" K-planes I wouldn't want to fish around. I do bring out unexperienced people that get caught up the motors. The width wouldn't matter at all.....

All I am saying is there is a lot of posts about making improvements to the boats ride, 4 blades, larger tabs, raising motors, etc....

I purchased the new 20" tabs that come on the new 2012 2530, I'm curious if anyone else did this upgrade, do I need longer rams or will the original ones work?
