As much as I hate to think about the winter layover, the time came today for me to prepare the Megabyte, and run her south to Deale for the winter.
First task... shovel out the snow from Wednesday.
Done!
Warm the motor, coil the lines for the winter, and off we go!
Water temperature, 36 degrees.
Winds were out of the SW between 10 and 15, and as I entered the Bay, I managed a decent speed in the "1 to 2's"
By the time I got to the mouth of the Severn, that speed had dropped to about 12 kts as the seas kicked up to 3's.
So... give her lots of tab, trim the motor, and enjoy the ride, as I was the only one out there besides the oyster tongers working Tollys.
About the time I passed 85a, the influence of the land became a factor and I was able to increase speed a little at a time the further south I ran.
By the time I arrived at 83a and entered Herring Bay, I had the throttle firewalled running 33.5 kts at 5100 rpm.
YeeHaw! Listen to that OX66 sing!
In all too short a time, I arrived at the 6 kt entrance to Rockhold Creek.
Tied up at one of Tri-States slips next to a 30 Grady Express, and bid farewell to my faithful ride for the long cold winter ahead.
