I'm interested in getting some LED lights to go under the gunnel (for a 23SE). I figure I can use one long LED rope light that would continuously run around the boat. With 46+ feet (can be run up to 65') and one electrical connection, it seems pretty easy to do. I'm thinking about these lights (link below). Has anyone used them (does the quality seem OK)? I know many people have installed different LED lights, but this seems like a good alternative. I'm leaning toward blue instead of red (possible safety concern). Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

I was originally using nine 16" 25 LED Acolyte tubes on my boat in white. I really wanted blue, and the white was a little too blinding for nightime use anyway. I decided to switch to blue. About 2 weeks ago, I order a 50' string of blue LED rope lights for $129.99 from eBay.The light output was pathetic compared to the original Acolytes I was using. I returned them promptly and luckily got a refund.

Last week I order six 31" 50 LED Acolyte tubes in blue. The light output is ridiculous! I will post pics for you guys later today.

Acolyte is the only way to go IMO. You can get them on eBay. Don't buy them at the stated price. Use the "Make offer" option. I offered him $30.00 per tube (instead of $38.00) and he accepted. I wonder if I could've went cheaper! It takes them about 4 days to ship out, and they leave from NJ. I won the auction Sunday, and got them on Friday. Six tubes will be a little easier to wire and install than nine, and the floor pattern will be much more uniform. Just make sure you buy the 12VDC units, because he also has them in 110AC.

The light pattern was actually much brighter and smoother in person. They looked pretty awesome and I cannot wait to see the blue ones! I sold these white tubes on THT within 10 minutes of posting them!

Could be. I got them off eBay. I honestly don't think any rope lights will compare the the Acolytes though.

Sure. I’ll post the links for the 25 LED & 50 LED tubes, both in 12 volt. Once you decided which model you’d prefer, pick a color you like, find the auction, click the “Make offer” button, enter the quantity you need, and the price you’re willing to pay. Again, I offered $30.00 for the $38.00 tubes, and Acolyte accepted it. That’s 21% cheaper. You might be able to go even less. Also, if you can't find the color you're looking for, just send him a message and ask him to set up an auction for you. Good luck!

These auctions are for the 16” 25 LED tubes. The first time, I used nine of these tubes total. Three on each side, and three for the rear. As you can see from the pics I posted above, the coverage was very good.

These auctions are for the 31” 50 LED tubes. This time around, I am going to use six tubes total. Two on each side, and two for the rear. I’ll actually have a higher amount of LEDs (300 vs 225), so I expect the coverage to be even better than before.

You're right. Looks like he only has white & green up right now. Are you an eBay member? Log in, and send him a message requesting he setup an auction for whatever color you want. He's pretty quick. It'll probably get done today.
