If I buy the 12V LED rope lights (the ones below) , I should get the DC connector kit (and not AC) right? I've heard guys talk about resistors? What are they and would I need them? Thanks.

Yes, would would need the 12V connector. $5.95 per foot? I needed at least 20' on my 2320.

John_Madison CT, I just took some pics for you.

96TL: Wow, looks great. I have to do this project, but I guess I'll do mine in Red. I can't put them in the back of my boat since it has the older style closed transom.

So, how did you end up attaching them? Did I read that those sticky connectors fell off on you?

WOW the blue looks awesome i have mine in red and my tubes came with little brackets to attach them to the boat!!!

$6.00 X 20 feet = $120

or

$30 X 6 tubes = $180 ?

Well, if those LED rope lights are anything like the rope lights I had, they won't be that bright at all. For another $60, you could get something MUCH MUCH brighter, tried and tested by another Parker owner. Maybe those LED rope lights are different than the ones I had previously, who knows? Honestly, I'd rather spend $180 than waste $120 though.

Don't you have a center console? You'd need more than 20' to light up around the entire cockpit. And you'd need more than 6 tubes also.

Good luck on your project. Let us know what they look like.

The 2-way tape on those sticky tie rod bases is horrible. They were great while they lasted. I'm honestly not sure how I'm going to mount these yet.

I sent an email to John @ Buckwood Craft in FL. Maybe he can think of something I can use. He works with both wood and starboard. I'll keep you updated.

Kevin once told me that he uses those same tie rod bases, but instead of attaching them with the 2-way tape, he uses caulk. I think it would be a pain in the butt to caulk all of these little bases. Figure two or three bases per tube. It sounds like it would work though. Some 4200 would definitely hold them up, or maybe even Boatlife LifeCaulk. It's much thicker than 4200.

Maybe some JB Weld or something like that would work. That stuff is as strong as steel once it sets up.

Let me know what you do as I'll probably do the same. BTW, I emailed the Ebay vendor about a price for 6 of the red ones.

JB Weld will hold up anything. What if you ever wanted to get it off though? You'd need a jackhammer! LoL.
