I mounted the double wide LED lights being sold by a guy (Scarabchris) on www.thehulltruth.com. I think they cost $200.

If they work well I'll get another one and mount it on the port side.

Looks good John. I've been watching those things on THT and was thinking about getting a set. I'll have to come down and check them out. When are you launching??

Okay...I admit it...I'm a dummy. Why would I want to light up the water under my transom?

The lights attract bait fish, which in turn attracts the big fish.

Do you have pics? :?:

I will take some pictures of them lit up at nite time as well as my LED Gunnel Lites inside and out!!!

Ok, I did a similar project to John, but I used 2 of the single wide lights instead of a single double wide.

Unfortunately I don't have any pics of it in the water. The one night I was there my friggin camera battery was dead. Hopefully I can get one soon.

One plus is the parkers actually have a pitched transom so the lights are at a slight downward angle.

It seemed like a good place to put them, but has the unfortunate con of being where I can't reach with a brush if the lenses get growth on them.

I guess that's what kids are for?

The commercial thru hull lights can run you up to $1k each, but these were about $120 each. They use minimal power, something like 0.4A each.

Installing them is a snap - two screws and some 5200 to mount the lights and then you have to dress the cable to wherever you want to bring it into the boat (I used the haws pipe that everything else goes through at the top of the transom). I ran the wire up to the helm and patched it into a spare rocker switch.

It was about the easiest project I've done recently. It was quicker than the two Rabud ball scupper valves I added (but I had to notch them to fit).
