Location of a wash down pump

I have a 21 se was thinking of putting the was down pump in the anchor locker the in take is aft is this to long a run for the pump to suck water

Unless you use a selfpriming pump, it has to be below the water line. Distance isn't the main problem, it's hight above the waterline, but even a selfpriming pump will suffer. I'd find someplace in the back.

I installed mine in the bilge, near the bilge pump and the through hole is bronze with a bronze petcock. Works great in this position. I have a 20' coiled QD hose.

Mine is mounted on the bulkhead in the rear hatch and I have a dual port bait pump that is attached to my through hull.
