I am looking into buying a 21SE for sale and wanted to hear some member's opinions on whether this is a decent deal?

$12,000

Parker 21 SE- 2001
150 Yamaha Saltwater Series II- 215 hours (also 2001)
Bob's Hydraulic Jack Plate
Trim Tabs
Sea Star Hydraulic Power Steering

No Trailer
Old electronics- needs replacement
No VHF or extras
Bimini- a few small holes, tracks look ok
Anchor
Regular cleats
No bow rail
Crack in the plexiglas on the console.

Assuming the engine and jack plate are in good condition, and nothing structural with the hull except normal wear and tear, what do you guys think for $12,000?

I forgot to add that the it has captains chairs mounted above the factory livewell.

New batteries

Thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated.. First time boat buyer and very anxious about any purchase.

It's a very good deal IMO assuming the hull is sound and the engine checks out. Run it and do a compression check at a minimum.

Agree... and the price is right too.

Thanks for the input guys!

Just being a cautious buyer. Don't want to lose my shirt on a deal but I think the hull has enough value. If the engine and jack plate are in good working order, I feel like it is a pretty good buy.

I will do the compression test for sure.

So did you pull the trigger on the 21 SE?

Price sounded good, assuming everything was in order.

I've looked at 10 yo 21 SE's over the past 6 months in VA, prices are typically around 15 K with trailer, hulls in exceptional condition a bit more.

I figure since I've to purchase, I could at least enjoy hearing about someone else's triumph.

Going for a sea trial on Sat. One of the O2 sensors acted up last time I tried it out and that was fixed. If it works I will pull the trigger.

Hopefully I can get a few good years of use out of the engine then repower with a 4stroke.

Just to chime in. I have one for sale on this page as well. It has a new trailer, nice electronics (Raymarine and Garmin) and all around is a great running boat. Its listed for $14,900 or best offer. Price is negotiable seeing as how I need the money for a house. I can email pictures but have had a hard time trying to post them on the site.

All,

Thanks for the input and thoughts. I pulled the trigger and am now a Parker owner.

2001 SE w/ a 2001 150 Saltwater Series II w/ 217 hours. Did the compression test and engine review by a yamaha certified mechanic. All is good.

FYI -cost was 12,000 cash -- out the door. Was it a steal? No probably not, but I beleive the deal was a fair one.

My budget didn't allow for a boat with all of the extras I wish I could afford. My main fear was being "boat poor" and unable to pay for the misc. expenses associated with ownership, storage, and use. I was comfortable in this price range.

@Chris- your boat def. has all the features to make it worth the extra $$ and your price is very fair. I prob. would have bought yours but the one I was looking at was 5 miles from my house in Sarasota. Mine is also lacking a trailer (which I don't need) and will need an electronics upgrade.
