Contemplating installing a marine AC behind the bench seat of my 2120 SC. Will be wired for shore power. Looking at 6000-9000 BTU. Would like some input on which size BTU. Make?

Read this thread and the other one and then ask away. There are a lot of things that you will need to think through. Water line to AC unit for example needs to run uphill to the unit. The condensation from the pan needs to be drained. The exit side needs to be above the water line. You will need to tie into your 12V ground etc... Read my threads and I think it will help with some of your questions?

Sorry, and the short answer to your question is that I used a 5000 BTU FCF system. It works fine as long as you seal up any areas that will leak air in/out of the cabin.

Thanks so much. I’m thinking the water pump can be mounted in the bilge and routed up hill to the AC unit behind the bench seat. There appears to be enough space between the top of the fuel tank and the deck. I’m hoping to fish it through the conduit for the fuel fill lines. I’m wanting to do a port side install so as to balance out some of the weight. With the controls, wires and all that on the starboard side, the boat has a starboard side list. Discharge and condensate can go through hull on port side.

That should work. I had considered the same and your routing of the lines is same as well. Good plan. Have you considered mounting it in the bench seat? If not, you can build a short platform to get it up a few inches of the d3ck behind the bench seat. You will need to run a couple of vents also. The bench would allow a cleaner install by running one vent to the berth side and one out the front. You could take out the tackle storage and put your grill there and still have some storage in the area by the large hatch. Just some thoughts I considered. Good luck

Yes. Two vents have been considered. I thought about one in the open space aft of the bench seat. The second one through the storage compartment in the forward storage of the bench seat. Do you think the 6000 btu is sufficient in Florida? I’m getting suggestions of 6000-9000. How well is your 5000 working? I don’t want to oversize.
Do I need a return grill? I’m thinking the return grill is built on the side of the unit with a removable filter.

I do think 6K BTU is good enough providing you follow my recommendations on insulating all the areas that can leak draw are into the cabin. Same way AC doesn’t work with the window cracked open. What year is your 2120? Also, yes, return is on the unit. Usually they are mounted in a cabinet of some kind and you just need to have a grill of a certain size to allow the return air to get to the unit. Yes, my 5K FCF unit works well.
