New to me 2002 model 21 SE with Yam 150 HPDI, computer diagnostic by Yam dealer says 227 hrs, no error codes, no warranty claims, all good, boat runs well. Boat came with an opened jug of Evinrude/Johnson 2 cycle oil, so I have to assume whatever is in the oil tank is E/J but possibly other brands as well...

Empty the oil tank and replace with Yamalube 2M TC-W3?

thanks,

Bryce

You have options...

Look at the opened jug of Evinrude/Johnson 2 cycle oil and see if it is a TCW3 oil (I'm betting it is).
You can continue to use that oil until you need to buy more, then decide...

Next time around, you can use Yamalube, or another TCW3 oil, especially since you are out of the warranty period.
I use Penzoil Full Synthetic in my 1997 model year OX66 and it burns clean with no smoke.
The Penzoil full-syn costs more than their semi-syn, but I'm OK with that. I like the fact that it burns so clean.

Understand that Yamalube is a semi-synthetic oil.
If you want to use a compatible TCW3 to Yamalube, Penzoil also makes a semi-syn that is virtually identical.

So... you have options.

Congrats on the new Parker!

Like megabyte said you have a few options. Definatley do not deviate from the factory reccomended oil specs, they are put in place for a reason. Good oil is cheap insurance (realatively speaking) and for what little oil the HPDI engines actually burn it would be foolish to not have the best. A good fuel additive/cleaner of your choice will help you get a few more hours of reliable service from your yamaha.

Absolutely!
Star*Tron and Ringfree in your fuel is cheap insurance.
