Motor Up or Down in Storage

Which is the best way to position the motor on my 1801 Parker during longer term storage on the trailer ? I was keeping in the down position but was
advised to store it up , locked and the trip pistons retracted when I had the boat winterized. Do you have a strong preference one way or the other and what's you logic ?

Down so all the water drains if it is out of the water, up if it is in.

I store mine down to make sure that all the water drains.

DOWN, specially in any weather that can get below freezing. Otherwise rain or snow can get into the exhaust portion in the LU bulb ... freeze and then crack the LU housing. As others said, down alows fluids to drain and is a more 'natural' (think of how it's positioned in use ...) orientation for the motor and components.
