I'M THINKING ABOUT BUYING A 2520 DVSC I/O WITH A 350CI VOLVO DUOPROP. THE HULL IS A 95 BUT ENGINE IS NEW IN 06. COULD ANYONE OFFER THEIR ADVICE ON WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN ANY COMMON CONCERNS THAT MAY INFLUENCE MY PURCHASE? I PLAN ON FISHING BOSTON HARBOR AND MASS BAY WITH OCCASIONAL OFFSHORE TRIPS ALONG WITH HAULING LOTS OF LOBSTER POTS. ANY COMMENTS ON DV VERSUS MV AND THE RELIABILITY OF THE VOLVO OUTDRIVE WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANKS IN ADVANCE.

I have a 1998 2530 DV I/O and it is a very solid and seaworthy boat. I had a Mercruiser 260HP which we just swapped out for a Yanmar 240HP.

I have heard of some problems with the seals on the Volvo outdrives but I would think Volvo addressed that by 2006 if that is the year of the outdrive.

There are a couple of Volvo I/O boats on this site so hopefully they can give you their input.

Good Luck,
Brian

I have a '96 2530 DV, with the 5.7L Volvo DuoProp (fresh water cooled, fuel injected).

I've had no outdrive problems. Just maintenance.

Deep vee is good for that boat with what you will do. Will let you go out on days to get traps rather than waiting it out on some breezier days.

The newer engine has some nice features.
