Hello folks, advice is appreciated, I plan to order a new 2120 cs this month, folks I trust are steering me to a 200 and I agree. Im told that my only option (sides the 150) is now a 200hp 4cyl that is 119 lbs lighter than 200-6 cyl but new with no performance reports. Please Advise.

Kind of a new motor as you know
However I got the 200HPDI and glad I did over the 150
I know its a different motor but I think for the type of boat she is she needs at least 200HP

Ty for input, I'm planning 200 for sure. Got a 19' car skiff with 115 hp 4 str suzuki and it's just right.... I see no way I could go to a boat darn near twice the skiffs weight and not be in a 200. Guess I may be a guinea pig w the 200 4cyl but I believe its on the same block as the 150 4 cyl they currently make. Love the Suzuki I got now and hear good things about yamahas in general for sure.

I have the 150 hpdi on my 2120sc and have no power problems what so ever. Very economical strong engine. If I was going 4-stroke I would want a 200hp for sure.

My father inlaw runs a 150 HPDI on his 2120 SC, the motor pushes the boat fine, the extra power would be nice though. But it is very economical with the 150

Gear Ratio....Gear Ratio .... Gear ratio. In typical fashion people just look at the badges on a motor.

Start looking at the Gear ratio's. Start thinking how those Lower Ratio's [Higher Number] can swing a larger prop.

For example.....your DF-115 swings a 14in dia prop. All other 115's are gonna swing no bigger than a 13 1/2 at most.

Ty, men for info, my gut tells me some days solo fishing with just my 185 lb butt I would be fine w the 150 4-stroke. But.... Like I read on another post it's a lot cheaper to get the extra hp now and be on the safe side with say my 300lb neighbor, a dog, full cooler, full fuel etc. Just FYI it's about a $3500 dollar difference..... I'm coming to terms with the fact that If I want a brand new 2120 sc the new 200 4cyl is my only option and that's with 5yr warranty. (they will put a 225 6cyl on there at factory but it adds decent weight and they are saying roughly add 10k in $ to the 150hp price ($6500 above new 200 which I found out of line but that's what I'm told). Warthog5, do you know anything about the gear ratios on the new 200 4cyl? . I'm clueless and don't mind admitting it. I looked at the yamaha "hot sheet" and the gear ratios were not listed. I know my 115 Suzuki 4stroke performs really well with the 19' skiff, I've enjoyed the heck out of running it, but that's all I know. Wanting a similar response from this Parker but with the dry ride and security of locking door, shade etc. im with ya on the "just cause its new ......." lost my butt in 06' on two New 6.0 liter ford deisal work trucks, they were new, they were garbage.

Warthog5, do you know anything about the gear ratios on the new 200 4cyl?

Yea the 6.0 Ford's don't have a good reputation and Fords are all I own, but no diesel's.

The gear ratio's are all in the motor spec's on the manufacture's site. You didn't say what year your DF-115 is?

But the new one is 2.59:1

While a new Yamaha F115 is 2.15:1

The new 200 4Banger yamaha is 1.86:1

While Suzuki does not make a inline 4cyl 200.....Their 175 that has high reviews is geared 2.50:1

Ty for info, I should have mentioned my 115 suzuki is a 2010 model I got it mid 2011 and Probly have 160 hrs on it. It really is the perfect motor for that 19' skiff and I have not had a bit of trouble out of it.

But with all that said....If you buy new.....You have one option. Yamaha......as that is what the factory has a warehouse full of.

You said it, if it is a new Parker Yamaha it will be. Another question for anyone knowledeable with a Parker sc (2120 in particular) with the pilothouse in the front of the boat how is the ride say in 2-3's ..... 18 - 20 knot winds?

I've been browsing old posts for an hour and am realizing that my questions are being answered re the 2120 sc. Helluva a little boat. Guess now its just swallow the pricetag and get it ordered....... only living once and all a decent boat takes priority. Thanks for all the info from all, Dry is nice, wish a 25 was in the budget, I asked for that one

What about the Yamaha Four Stroke V MAX SHO® VF150? Now that's a sweet little number.

Is it really? I guess I've only seen it on fresh water boats now that you say it. I thought it was just one of their HO motors. I'm not sure.

Bass boat motor, because they are 20in shaft motors.

It's like the new DF-250 SS by Suzuki. Designed around a Bass boat.

All I can say is that the F 150 is one economical engine. I've had my 07 2120 SC since new an most of my buddies prefer to fish with me when we do inshore tuna fishing ( Up to 60 miles) I run the 60 miles fish all day an burn on avg about 65 gallons. You can't beat that with a stick!

I have the F150 on my 2120 and I have to say I have never wanted more power. If you are concerned about running in 2-3 footers with an 18 knot wind, more horsepower isn't going to fix that. I have the deep V and I can run 12-15 MPH in 2-3 footers all day depending on the timing of the waves. A close in chop is a lot worse.

I usually fish alone or with one other person. I don't push too hard because I already know that the boat will handle a lot more than I care to endure.

Steve

2120 is good in 2-3 footers. The sharp deadrise deep V runs well in chop. But she does rock and roll on the hook.
