Question for the electronic guru's...going to have installed on my 21 SE new electronics (garmin gps/fishfinder) and an Icom radio....thinking flush mount rather then using the brackets provided.....question as I live in Connecticut at times the temp in the winter will fall to single digits..what effect would it have on the Garmin if it were left in the console over the winter...on my boat now the radio and gps are bracket mounted ...easily removed and put in a nice warm environment :)

Check w/ Garmin, most spec sheets list the environmental conditions/limits.

Pretty sure in the spec. It gives "Operating temp permiters". Just sitting I can't see where it would hurt it.....As long as it did not get wet....Get wet and freeze leads to splitting things.

I've never had a problem with my flush mounted Garmin over the past three winters in Massachusetts. However it's located in the cabin of a 2520 and not really subjected to the elements other than cold.

new electronics (garmin gps/fishfinder) and an Icom radio..

FYI: Standard Horizon has just as good of rep as Icom.....But S/H has a smaller footprint to take up less space.

Same with me, except I am in Maryland.
