HI, I recently bought a very used Parker 18 and am redoing it inside and out (as well as repowering it).

I have read a lot of intersting stuff on this site and am glad to have such a great resource available (and helpful members).

I have not been able to find a few things I was looking for and will make a couple of posts in the dicussion forum.

Here are a few pics as requested.

I would like to repower with a 150 but am having a hard time finding performance data.

Maybe an etec 130 makes more sense???

I am not going down to a 115.

I would like to get the new Merc 150 4 Stroke, but I am concerned about the weight?????

I have not seen performance data on the 150, but I know a guy that had a 115 Yam 2S and repowered with a 150 Yam )X66 2S and he said it was a completely different boat. He was getting upper 40's in mph, great hole shot and never did he feel under powered. I had a 1997 ETEC 115 and it ran great. I bet a 150 ETEC would perform wonderfully. I assume since you are thinking about a new engine you plan on keeping the boat for a while? If you think you may be wanting to go up in size in the next 4-5 yrs weigh the cost of that new engine carefully as it is unlikely you will recover that expense if you try to sell within that first few yrs. I redid a 21 from stringers up a couple yrs ago and am selling it now because I bought a 23. I had considered a new engine but am glad now I didn't buy it.

Thanks windknot, I plan on keeping it and passing it down to the kids. A solid 18' footer is always handy to have around, even if I go bigger later for myself.

I am also looking at the ETEC, but I first want to see if they have any announcements in Miami as I hear they may have something interesting to say regarding the 150 range of motors.

The new 135 may be the way to go, 148 prop HP and nearly $1,000 cheaper than the 150 with the same HP as others.
